2009 ELIGIBILITY

All USBA basketball tournaments are age-based with defining parameters based on birth dates that allow players in each specific division to compete only against other players at the same age level. Eligibility is based first on the age determining date. September 1, 2009 shall be the determining date for boys while January 1, 2009 is the age determining date for girls.

All players MUST participate in their own age level or above.

Players may play in multiple age levels in any given tournament except NATIONALS.

A birth certificate (copy) for each player must be in the coaches possession at all times during the tournament. A copy of the complete roster must be in the coaches possession at all times during the tournament.

Home school participants cannot be categorized as grade exception players. Division eligibility is based on age and birthdate only.

GIRLS

AGE DETERMINING DATE CHANGED FOR GIRLS: The age determining date for girls has been changed from July 1 to Jan 1 for the 2009 season.

Age Exception Rule: Each team will be allowed to have one girl who is one age group above. Example: If the team is a 13U team they can have one 14U player on the team.

Grade Exception Rule: Please see the ages and current grade a girl must be in to play as a "grade exception." Each team is allowed as many grade exceptions as needed, but they MUST meet the requirements.

Open (17+)	1989

BOYS

September 1, 2009 shall be the determining date for the age of the competitor and shall hold true for all USBA tournaments. In other words, if a boy was born in 1992 and his birthday is AFTER September 1 he would be eligible to play 16/under. BOYS: The grade is NOT a consideration if the athlete meets the age determining date. An athlete that does not meet the age determining date may qualify under the grade exception rule. See chart below.

13 UNDER*	1995	A player in the 7th grade born after Sept 1, 1994
14 UNDER*	1994	A player in the 8th grade born after Sept 1, 1993
15 UNDER*	1993	A player in the 9th grade born after Sept 1, 1992
16 UNDER*	1992	A player in the 10th grade born after Sept 1, 1991
17+*		Seniors between the ages of 17-19 (Sept 1 of current year) are eligible to play in this division. Players must have graduated in 2009. If a player is attending a prep school you must submit a letter of enrollment from that prep school, along with your birth certificate.

BOYS GRADE EXCEPTIONS

*All ages can have unlimited grade exceptions, but each player MUST fit the criteria
